Processes and tools need to go hand in hand to be effective. With so many product management tools now being available, and processes changing, it's good to have a framework to understand where you are and how to make better decisions moving forward . Carnegie Mellon University, with its partner INSTEP, have created product management tools taxonomy for what we call the “Five Product Movements of the SaaS Product Manager" (strategy, planning, development, marketing, operations). The taxonomy provides a framework for evaluating a company’s current use of product management tools and for creating a roadmap for the acquisition of tools to improve the product management function.
